As the other reviews...which I did not read...state, this feeder is so poorly made that it will never hold up to use. Why Amazon is still selling it is a very good question. Don't they look at the products that are returned? Save yourself the time of having to return this feeder and DO NOT BUY ONE!!!!

(More customer reviews)I bought this bird feeder after looking locally for a large feeder - prices were out of sight here. This is a strong & heavy feeder. It may not hang on your average hook or limb. It's made for almost any feed except thistle. Ours is loaded with half chicken scratch and half bird seed mix from our local feed store. It easily comes apart and goes back together for refill or cleaning.

While still being a nice large feeder I found out that rain will fill the bird seed tray and soak up into the entire container of feed where it sours or ferments. The base needs to be worked over. I have a good metal and woodworking shop. I imagine I'll remove what base I can and still retain the feeder holes and assembly full length screw and attach a flat wooden and/or screen wire platform.
