(More customer reviews)My first oven of this type was a Flavorwave Deluxe (now discontinued) made by Thane. It was given to me by my brother and sis-in-law; it was great and I loved cooking on it; until it almost burnt the house down.
On that model, after cooking, if you do not turn it off it automatically goes into warming mode. What happened was after cooking I placed the unit on the table top ( the little holder was missing) sometime later I went to turn the kitchen light off and there was the flavorwave in full cooking mode. Fortunately it did not catch the table on fire. It went into the trash the next day.
I read a lot of reviews and saw the infomercial and decided to purchase one from the company with the extender ring, pan and extra rack. There were all of great quality. The bottom liner pan (that came with the unit even if you do not purchase the extender ring kit) has two Little wire like carrying handles that recess into the pan while the dome is in place cooking. the main cooking rack is 11.5 inches in dia. if you already have a pan. It's great for biscuits, rolls and fish sticks.
The main rack has a 4" legs or 1" legs. I recommend spraying a non stick cooking spray on the rack for easy cleaning.
I found the Nuwave actually cooks faster than the Flavorwave Deluxe by about 15-20%. The average oven operates on a 220 volts while the flavorwave operates on 110. the average oven cooking on 2000 watts and the Kilowatt Hours used is say 1488 kWh/mo that figures to about $223.00 per month @ $.15 Cost of Electricity (per kWh) or $2676.00 Cost per year. Of course family size is a variable here.
I love the idea of cooking right from the freezer with frozen steaks and hamburger patties etc. Thought it is true you have to turn your food even pizza's. The flavorwave company offers a pizza kit of the flipper a liner a spatula, cutter and cutting board all free if you purchased your oven from them if you just pay a separate S/h charge of about $26.95; yeah, go figure. I purchase just the flipper on an online auction site for just $.99. Since most pizza's come with a cardboard backing I can just turn the frozen pizza upside down on the cardboard and cook the dough first and slip the flipper under the cardboard and flip it then cook the topping and in the process save myself some real dough.
So far I have cooked frozen potato patties, rib eye steaks sausage patties and fish sticks with great success and purchased an egg poacher on line and will use the non stick cups to cook my eggs in. I have use a custard cup for the eggs but trying to pick it up and dump out the egg was a bit of a chore.
I'm especially exited by the money I save using the Nuwave and it comes with a "cheat sheet" for quick references for beef fish etc. and a great cook book. This appliance would be excellent for a member of the family living in a school dorm; of if you own an RV, boat or anywhere space is limited
To be up front, there is a "nack" to cooking with Nuwave oven if you are use to a conventional oven but the benefits are worth the effort.
To the reviewer who gave this unit a poor rating; try cooking your food on either a lower power or for less time or both. I love mine.
SPECIAL NOTE: I PURCHASED A KEURIG SINGLE CUP BREWING SYSTEM ON AN ONLINE AUCTION SITE. IT WAS BRAND NEW NOT EVEN OUT OF THE BOX AND EVEN REGISTERED IT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE UNIT DEVELOPED SOME ISSUES AND KEURING WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AS IT WAS PURCHASED ONLINE.
