(More customer reviews)I have had this product for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. I have made chicken breast, salmon, snapper, shrimps, steak and other things using this machine and although I was very skeptical at first I am proud to say that it actually works. The food is cooked and very tasty but best of all it is finished cooking quickly. Although the included cook book varies in cooking time, I find I always have to add a minute or two extra, for certain food, but other times I can minus a minute also. For example fresh chicken is recommended as cooking time 3 minutes, however I cook mine for at least 4 minutes, and frozen burger meat is recommended at 7 minutes however I cook it for 6 minutes and it is well done. So it all depends on your microwave and you using your judgement.Although I think the world of this product, I do have some negatives to add also. Firstly, the size. This product can hold two burger meats at a time and for other foods, e.g., chicken breast and steak I would only recommend cooking one at a time, or the food will not be prepared properly. So this con is major especially if you have a big family, however I guess this can be solved if you have more than one micro grill so that you can add more food the minute you take out the prepared one.Another negative, and this is by far the worst flaw I can think of and it relates to the size as well, is that when you grill certain foods like burger meat, the oil and juices that are in the burger meat naturally are released when being cooked so when the meat is finished cooking there is juice in the grill so that when you try to take out the micro grill from the microwave, you end up with oil and juice being spilled every where on the floor etc. This happened to me before, and most recently yesterday. I had burger juice all over my floor and my counter. However, I just cleaned it up and continued cooking. After all you can't expect perfection. I just wish that the manufacturer would release a newer version and make it deeper so that spills can be prevented.Other than that, this product works. I have recommended it to my mom and my sister. My mom already bought her self one and my sister is still in the "I want to wait until I visit you to see this product in action" phase.

(More customer reviews)I acquired this microwave when I was moving to a flat with limited kitchen space, and my primary reason for the choice was that the Sharp model was multi-functional. Since I've begun using it, I happily have ceased to sing a requiem for the toaster oven, separate grill, and other items I was 'consolidating' in this purchase.
I have used the Sharp microwave for grilling and roasting, as well as normal microwave functions, and the results are better than I could have expected. Grilled and roasted foods are extremely tender and juicy - at least of the quality one could expect from a conventional oven. I have had similar success with cooking vegetables.
Reheating muffins and breads has amazing results - they seem fresh baked and, unlike breads normally heated in a microwave, do not harden in a minute. I have used the convection feature for preparing breads, and had especially stunning results with preparing a frozen chicken pie. I suppose the surrounding air from the convection oven was the reason, but it seemed like a fresh-baked meat pie.
There are a few drawbacks, which would not compromise my five star rating because of the great versatility and high quality of the unit overall. The 'auto' roast, defrost, and grill features are very convenient, as is the prompting (telling one when to turn over the meat, for example), but they are very limited in the weight restrictions. For example, if one is defrosting ground meat, it has to be a certain weight - significantly more than that of a single hamburger. Though grills and roasts would mostly fit in to the specifications, this is a drawback for defrosting, where one must estimate times and key them in manually.
Another difficulty I have experienced, when grilling on the rack, is that drippings which fall either on to the carousel tray or a pan placed under the meat can become badly burnt and baked on. This was slightly disappointing for my intentions of preparing gravies on the side. My single attempt to do so meant I had to soak the pan overnight and then scrape. The grilling results are wonderful, as far as the effect on the meats, but there is a great deal of smoke generated. Whenever I grill, it sets off the smoke alarm - probably best to roast, then only grill at the end.
I would advise anyone purchasing this microwave to read the manual in full. The capabilities will not be realised otherwise. I actually use the unit less for 'standard microwaving' than for its other features.
One further comment: the Sharp microwave cookbook, which is advertised in the manual for the unit, is useful but not specific to the multi-functional machine. It contains only microwave recipes - none for grilling, roasting, or convection.
Overall, and considering that it can replace several appliances, this microwave is an extraordinary value.

We've had this microwave for a couple of months now, so I can't comment on its long-term reliability.
Good:
Mostly, it's been fine. It meets my primary requirement for a microwave, which is that you can put food into it, press 3 0 START, and it cooks for 30 seconds at full power. (It's amazing how many microwaves fail that test, requiring some other key before the time. Easy enough if you know how to use it, but not for visitors.)
It can do relatively complex sequences like:
- Wait 5 minutes (to line up completion time with other foods)
- Cook 4 minutes
- Wait 20 seconds (to give me time to stir)
- Cook 3 minutes
- Wait 2 minutes (post-cook "let stand" time)
It'll prompt you through most operations, though ... the ... prompting ... is ... kind ... of ... tedious.
The Sensor Reheat feature seems to do a pretty good job of warming food up to a good serving temperature. It overwarms frozen corn dogs a little, but only a little.
I haven't used it much, but the Sensor Cook feature did a good job on baked potatoes.
Complaints:
It's going to sound picky, but my biggest complaint with this microwave is that its beeper isn't loud enough. It's a little chirp-chirp that you could easily miss if you're in the next room. It does repeat the chirp every few minutes until you open the door.
The child lock is too hard to use. My other child-lockable appliances have a button with a lock icon on it; if you hold the button for about 5 seconds it locks or unlocks the device. For this one, though, the sequence is Function, 5, 1 to lock and Function, 5, 2 to unlock. (I had to go check.) Too hard to remember, and if you don't know that it starts with "Function" you're just hosed.
Nits:
There are a few features I don't use yet (and so at the moment they represent unnecessary complexity) - Popcorn, More/Less. "Quick Minute" doesn't seem like enough of a win to be worth a dedicated button - 1 0 0 START vs QM START? 6 0 START if you optimize a bit means QM only cuts out one keystroke. If you need three minutes, QM QM QM START is the same as 3 0 0 START.
I'd like a "hard pause" feature, where it would stop a cook sequence and beep, and then resume the cook sequence when I press "Start" after I stir the food.

(More customer reviews)First I tried Salmon and asparagus and it came out nasty and dried out. But that is because I followed the directions. You almost have to experiment with lower power setting on your microwave. That's when this product proves it's greatness. The second time I tried Talapia at 4 and 1/2 minutes on power level 4. The steam cooks it fast, so you can now use this thing at the normal microwave temperature. Once you experiment and get the time and temp right, this thing can be great. The talipia came out moist and tasty, due to seasoning it.
