(More customer reviews)I had wanted to get this grill for awhile, but was still a little leery of its merits. I finally bought it anyway, and so far, have been loving it! I anticipate that during the summer it will replace my oven.
I cook a lot of chicken, either in the skillet, or in the oven. With this grill, you don't have to worry about turning the chicken, watching it, etc. All I really do it watch the clock. The first night I had the grill, I made salmon fillets, and they turned out great.
While I love the grill so far, there are a few things to watch out for. The first time I cooked chicken, I overcooked it..you kind of need to play around with the times in the booklet enclosed with the grill. I also found that I needed to push the grease tray farther back (closer to the grill) than I initially thought. Also, it does get quite smoky, so it would probably be most ideal if your kitchen had some kind of window.
With cleaning, you really do have to do it while the grill is still warm, or it makes it a lot harder to clean off.
I've barely used my oven since getting this grill..in the summer it will be great not having to heat up the whole house.

Richard Simmons EST7 Steam-Heat Electronic Food Steamer Review

(More customer reviews)Steam Heat has so many features that can't be found on a standard vertical steamer. The best feature is that I can program different times for differnet types of food so that each is steamed to perfection and they are all ready at the same time. The steamer switches to keep warm mode for 60 minutes after the food has finished steamer so that is really cool too.
Another plus, because of the horizontal design, the flavors stay in their own bowl and don't mix with the other foods being steamed.
I made a deliciously decadent chocolate cake in the steamer too. Yes, you can make desserts in the Steam Heat as well as healthy breakfasts, lunches, dinners and appetizers too. If you thought steaming was just for fish and veggies, think again.

Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Griddler in February of 2005 and have taken care to ensure it lasts. The Griddler is heavy and sturdily constructed. It heats up quickly, and cleans up even faster. We have used it for panini, grilling meat, and toasting burger buns. The unit can be used either as a panini/grill press with the floating top or opened up to use as a griddle.
The base of the unit heats up and maintains temperature better than the top. This creates uneven toasting of the Panini or other items. It's not so much of a problem using as a griddle, since one side will simply cook faster than the other.
After a year the nonstick surface has started pealing off of the grill plates. I have never used metal on the nonstick surface and have taken great care to preserve the finish. Perhaps it is in the design or a fate of nonstick coated products in general, but the now I will have to take care not to get pieces of the nonstick surface in my food.
The Griddler comes with interchangeable dishwasher safe griddle and grill plates with a lock and release system that is intuitive to use. The plates easily release with the press of a button for cleaning. To place the plates back on the Griddler, one simply rests the plates in the groves located towards the rear or bottom and snaps the front or top into place. The plates don't consistently stay attached in the top section like they once did. It's very annoying trying to reposition a hot plate back into place.
On the surface, the Griddler has the looks and design to be a great product. Cuisinart has some bugs to work out to attain even heating and plates that last. If I were to buy a new panini press, I would not look to Cuisinart again. As a matter of fact, I now enjoy using a Breville 800GRXL Indoor Barbeque and Grill instead.
PROS:

West Bend 76026 High Speed Baking QuikServe Oven, Black/Silver Review

(More customer reviews)This oven is aesthetically pleasing but takes up a lot of counter space. It seems a lot of thought went into the design ,for example the nice weight cooking pan has a separate lift bracket with stay cool handles. However, if the top part were just 2 inches taller it would have more functional use. I cooked Ore-Ida oven fries in it on the supplied non-stick pan and they were quickly cooked perfectly with an enhanced potato taste. Then later I cooked manicotti in a small and shallow rectangle glass Pyrex dish. Part of one of the top elements had burned melted cheese on it. Both items cooked much quicker than if I had used my regular sized convection oven or my convection microwave oven since no warm up period was required. However, it seems everything has to be place only on the cooking pan which is about the size of a medium frozen pizza. This greatly limits the everyday use of this oven. I had hoped since my toaster-oven recently died that this item would take it's place, but that is not the case. I will probably still use it for fries and frozen pizza, but if I'm baking cookies, a cake or a pie then I'll use my microwave or full sized oven.
03/07/11 update:
I happily use this appliance several times a week for multiple reheating and cooking. I was short sighted in thinking it was not sized properly for frequent use, although I still think making it a couple of inches taller would be beneficial. If you purchase Phillips' crab cakes, you can cook them frozen to perfection w/o adding any cooking oil or butter. When I cook fresh fish on this I do add butter and seasoning. When and if this appliance dies I will replace it.

(More customer reviews)I have had 3 Foreman grills over the years, first I got the Champ for college, then I moved up to the Next Grilleration, and now its on to the 360. The 360 has really stepped it up a notch. The multiple removable plates make this grill the one to have I think. I have made a massive omelet and it turned out perfect. I made quesadillas and they turned out perfect. I made chicken and once again came out perfect and had the classic good amount of drippings. Every plate worked like a charm and cleanup was so much easier. than the previous models i think. I look forward to using this grill for years to come!
Update:
Okay run into my first issue and its a BIG one. For some reason the area made to hold the plates on have gotten warped or bent after their first use (assume it was after I had set it to its highest and had cooked some chicken). I'm not sure if its from the heat or what but the top plate will no longer stay in place!!! I locked the plate in place to cook some chicken, lifted it up 2-3 times and it was fine, but I opened it up once and the plate popped off and ended up falling to the floor as I wasn't about to catch the thing. The plastic handle shattered and now any plate I try in the top does not seem to sit right and pops off after use :( I'm not sure what to think at this point, I was really impressed at first but after this debacle I'm not sure what to do with the thing as its now junk if I can't put any top plate on without it falling off.

(More customer reviews)I have a basic Foreman grill that was one of the first with the removable plates to make cleaning easier. I have used this exact same Foreman for grilling chicken and heating leftover food for approx. 3 years and purchased a 2nd for my other home. I love the thing. The new Foreman is certainly bigger than my prevoius unit, but oh is it ever versatile. Take a look at what I cooked and my thoughts on positives and negatives of this grill:
What I cooked:
Frozen Teriyaki Grilled Chicken Strips purchased from Trader Joes
Raw Turkey Burger
Frozen Chicken Breast
Quesadilla Cheese and Chicken
Raw Chicken Skewers
Costco purchased Chicken Dogs
Cornbread Muffins
Positives:
-Yes, I said Cornbread muffins in the same Foreman as Raw Turkey Burger! Not at the same time. The Foreman comes with a great manual that describes the times and temperatures for many, many different items-so it takes the guessing out of the way. Fish, Chicken, Red Meat, Muffins, Waffles, you name it!
-Because this Foreman has variable temperature it is extremely versatile and you can grill just the way you like it. This is a HUGE plus because with most all other Foreman's you must grill at one temperature and leave on longer or shorter. Getting the center of meat cooked or warmed could be challenging because of no variable temperature. No more!
-There is also a timer on this so you do not have to use a stove timer, or watch.
-You can tilt this one or have it not tilted and there is plenty of room for the "Mouth" to open for a variety of things.
-The cooking surface is 72" so it's big enough to get on lots of food!
-It heats up to 300 degrees in 5 minutes. That's fast!
-The removable plates are easy to clean-easier than a regular grill
-Food tastes to much better warmed with the Foreman the microwave! Very juicy.
-Amazing versatility with the new plates. The bake dish means you could do Lasagne, Calzone, etc. as well as Cornbread, muffins and more. Who knew such a thing could be done with one device?
-Perfect for a camping trip with a generator to give you more than a grill-but an Oven as well!
Negatives-
-This is bigger than past Foreman's (see dimensions on product) so you need a place to store it and every time you bring it out it is a bit hefty. Also, because there are different plates that come with it-those will need to be stored somewhere else as well. If you are limited in space-this might not be for you if all you need is a quick basic grill and Panini Press-style device.
-It is expensive. I think the more basic ones are about $45 and this one is triple that. If you are going to use the versatility of it or you are going to grill with this a lot vs an outdoor grill-it's worth it. For the casual user-too much money.
Overall, I love this new Foreman and sadly I am giving my old one to my in-laws. I love that thing, but I love this one more!

Nordic Ware Danish Ebleskiver Pan Review

(More customer reviews)We have used this pan every weekend for a year. Don't bother making mix from scratch - Hungry Jack's "just add water" pancake mix makes wonderfully light and fluffy Ebelskivers. We add blueberries and raspberries to our Ebelskivers (fresh in season, frozen but thawed in warm water the rest of the year).
Yes, it is nonstick but I find a little butter is necessary to keep the Ebelskivers from sticking if they have fruit in them, plus the butter is essential to taste, in my opinion. I add a small, thin slice of butter to the bottom of each Ebelskiver hole once it's hot (heat over low or medium low heat). Once the butter melts, add batter to each hole to just slightly below the hole's rim (beware, center hole heats quickest, so add butter to that hole last and add batter to that hole first). Now add fruit or jelly to center until batter rises to rim or just above the rim.
Once brown on bottom, use a small silicone heat resistant spatula to flip the Ebelskivers over. While the flip takes a little practice, it is easy to catch on to. Trust me, guests and family will be impressed with these unusual breakfast treats AND will be amazed at the taste! We top our Ebelskivers with real maple or blueberry syrup and a small dollop of whipped cream ("Reddy Wip" make not be haute cuisine, but it sure tastes good!).
NOTE ABOUT CAST IRON: We also own a cast iron Ebelskiver pan, which we hate. No matter how many times I've tried to season and oil the pan, the Ebelskivers stick - which ruins the Ebelskivers. Plus, I have a bad neck which is irritated by trying to use caste iron, which is very heavy and difficult to use for making Ebelskivers. Just be sure to wash the nonstick pan by hand and don't use forks or other metal utensils to turn the Ebelskivers.

(More customer reviews)First I tried Salmon and asparagus and it came out nasty and dried out. But that is because I followed the directions. You almost have to experiment with lower power setting on your microwave. That's when this product proves it's greatness. The second time I tried Talapia at 4 and 1/2 minutes on power level 4. The steam cooks it fast, so you can now use this thing at the normal microwave temperature. Once you experiment and get the time and temp right, this thing can be great. The talipia came out moist and tasty, due to seasoning it.

Pyrex 6022369 Storage 14-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids Review

(More customer reviews)Trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle - using more reuseables and less disposables, and Pyrex is PERFECT for that!!!
I had been using plastic Gladwear, Ziploc, and Rubbermaid containers, but had several problems with them:
1. Storing tomato sauce and then re-heating it in the container dyed them a weird shade of orange.
2. They are supposed to be microwaveable but I found that after a few months of normal use, they were useless - warped, funny colors, scratched, etc.
3. The plastic scratched easily, creating chanels where bacteria could grow - eww.
4. I've read multiple articles from multiple magazines quoting multiple studies about how microwaving plastics release toxic chemicals into your food.
5. After several months of use, they were beat and had to be recycled - recycling is, of course, better than throwing them in the trash, but the process of recycling creates pollution and not only that, I'd have to go out and buy more, spending more money, which was what I was trying to get away from. Good for the company, because they got more money, bad for me, the customer.
BUT this Pyrex set is GREAT! 7 containers, 7 lids. LOVE IT!!!
1. I can reheat food in the microwave (without the plastic lid) and don't have to worry about chemicals leaking in to my food.
2. They do great in the freezer - we use one of the small ones to hold ground coffee - we buy beans and ground several days worth at once, then pop the grounds in the small container and into the freezer.
3. It's Pyrex, so it's no big deal when my daughter accidently drops one helping me put the dishes away.
4. I can use them to hold raw marrinating meat, chicken, or fish without having to worry about them holding on to the bacteria.
5. They are dishwasher safe, just put the lids on the top rack only, and they come out perfect, very smooth surface so they are easy to wash.
6. I've read other reviews saying that they look nice too, so they can go from fridge or oven (7. Oh yeah, they are oven-safe too) to table as serving dishes - this is true, if we ever had a dinner party, I would't think twice about using them as serving dishes.
8. They are simple, which I love, because I won't have to worry about them clashing with anything (we are a young family so we have hodge-podge of kitchen stuff anyway so it doesn't matter right now).
9. They "nest" together very nicely - we live in a small apt with limited kitchen storage, but these containers, one stacked up inside the other, with the lids separating the containers, don't take up any more space than my old plastic junk.
I use these ALL THE TIME, I can't say enough good things about them. All of mine are "in commision" right now, except for one which is in the dishwasher. My one complaint is a set of 7 lids and 7 containers is not enough, I need another set, LOL. :-) (I also have the loaf pan w/ lid - very nice, small, but nice, good addition to my set)

The bagel function works well for bagels and hamburger buns. I have to change the darkness setting for different bread types (sandwich slices, buns, bagels, etc.), but I expect that, so it's ok. The digital setting knob is convenient because you don't have to guesstimate the correct setting. The bad news: The thing won't toast consistently. Almost every day, I wake up and load the toaster with two refrigerated bagels (4 sliced halves). It's always a cold start in the morning. I set it to brown on #6. The results range from moderately overdone to no browning at all. There's no excuse for it. As another reviewer has said, it also doesn't cook very evenly with 1 or 3 slices. Evidently, the radiant heat from the opposite side hits only one edge of the single slice and overcooks just that side. If you stick a single slice in the center of the slot, it gets even worse, because both edges will be overdone, while the center is underdone. I have to turn the toaster down one notch if I plan on running a second batch of toast. The Even-Heat System is bogus. I give this toaster an A for effort and an F for execution.
